Catherine et Claude Maréchal Bourgogne Aligoté 2021
Aligoté as a style of wine, is great for the dinner table as it’s often not weighed down by heavy oak character. It’s got all the fresh buttery notes that White Burg brings, with fruit more leaning towards citrus and stone fruits. Claude Maréchal produces a benchmark example, from their southern vineyards in Bligny and Pommard. Fruit was harvested quite late in the season, owing to its generosity. We’re thinking some cold cuts and tuna tartare, followed by some river fish in a rich lobster bisque. Maréchal is a small production and the number of theses wines we get each season is quite limited.
