The Maverick of Muscadet Jérôme Bretaudeau, works from a veritable science experiment of a winery, in the industrial sector of Clisson. Revolutionising the classic Melon de Bourgogne that we expect from Muscadet, and experimenting with varieties not permitted in the appellation, such as Chardonnay and Merlot.
Les Perrières comes from a site planted in the nineteen twenty's and sits on Granite soils. It's yields are tiny and produces linear, mineral Muscadet, which Jérôme masterfully crafts using indigenous yeasts and concrete vats, for a long and slow fermentation. A wine that makes you think about the place it's from, while you're downing a couple of freshly shucked oysters.
