Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve Cahors La Fage 2018
What a brilliant bucket of blueberries and spice this wine is. It’s full and rich without being weighed down by a hefty oak structure. Everything is in balance here. Cahors is renowned for its supple Malbecs, ranging from mid-weight beauties to dark fruit heavy-weights. Think of it as the insolent twin of Syrah. If you drive from Montpellier to Bordeaux at some point you pass through Cahors. Matthieu and Catherine started up the Domaine in 1999, their 15 hectare estate is certified organic. Conventional practices in the cellar, with minimal additions. Makes us crave some crispy pork belly on a slice of bakers loaf.
