Georges Descombes Beaujolais Blanc 2022
Another example of why Beaujolais gives you so much bang for your buck. It's got all the weight and texture of a fresh buttery Chardonnay you'd expect to see from Southern-most Burgundy plus plenty of crunchy pear and florals. George Descombes is an engineer at heart and practices pragmatically in his estate vineyards. He applies organic principles but uses some herbicides in areas where it's impossible to plough. He chills his harvest, in order to allow for slow fermentation, followed by some ageing in old barrels. A wine for delicate crustaceans such as Scallops with a buttery sauce.
