Jules Metras Chiroubles Beaujolais 2020
Fruit from two vineyards in the Chiroubles appellation, one from the village of Lancie, the other from La Chapelle de Guinchay, previously owned by Jules Chauvet. Jules is the next generation of Beaujolais producers that have changed the way we view Gamay across the globe. His father, Yvon Metras, has passed on his practice to his son. Fruit is picked late, cooled and sealed in concrete vats to start a long and slow process of natural fermentation. There’s no sulfur either. We get powerful bursts of cherry and spice, that is enveloped by gentle structure. Wines like these bring pleasure from the first splash in the glass until the end.
