Maxime-François Laurent La Rubiconde 2022
Maxime began his negociant label back in two thousand and six, alongside the work he does with his mother to produce Domaine Gramenon in the Southern Rhône. He purchases parcels of grapes from both his neighbours and his uncle's vineyards in Montbrison-Sur-Lez, making it still very much a family wine. Maxime likes to work more with whole bunches, choosing to ferment in concrete vats to express fruit purity and lifted spicy aromas in the glass.
La Rubiconde comes from a blend of Grenache parcels, predominately from his uncles eighty year old vineyards. It's arguably Maxime's flagship wine, giving us all the concentration of a ruby red beauty we'd expect from regions like Chateauneuf, with hints of herbal overtones from whole bunch pressing. A wine that will open up over the course of an evening and hit it's peak when the cheese plate arrives at the table.
