Michel Gahier Arbois Les Crêts Chardonnay 2020
Unique, nutty, umami, textured - just a few ways to describe white wines from Michel Gahier of the Jura. Les Crêts comes from a small hillside vineyard near Montigny-Les-Arsures. Michel makes the choice not to use any sulfur, and ferments and ages in old oak foudres that imparts a distinctive savoury texture to this Chardy. It's full of honeyed pear and nutty aromas that make us salivate and crave something such as a prawn bisque or maybe some fresh sashimi. Gahier is certainly pushing the Chardonnay boundaries with this sumptuous number. Just a couple of units on offer this vintage.
