Meyer-Fonné Riesling Grand Cru Schoenenbourg 2021
A Riesling to rival some of the top White Burgundy's. The tension between the rich fruit and mouth enveloping acid makes for pure pleasure. Schoenenbourg is an organically farmed hillside vineyard around the village of Mittelwihr. Félix Meyer holds around 14 hectares, which he vinifies in a style classic to the region. Fermentation is done in steel tanks and some old barrels. The wine is then racked after fermentation is complete and then sits on lees until September bottling. A tempting accompaniment for the classic Alsatian dish Coq au Riesling, but holds enough finesse to sit alongside delicate fish and crustaceans.
