Georges Descombes Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2020
Benchmark Brouilly from a benchmark Beaujolais producer. Georges makes Gamay that’s cranked up just a little bit higher. It’s got everything – perfume, fruit bombs, bit of spice. Pure poise. This particular release is from old vineyards and Georges selects his most premium Brouilly fruit, denoted by the red wax seal. 2020 was a pretty hot year for Beaujolais, but the results are testament to producers such as Descombes (among others), who produce balanced and restrained examples while showcasing ripe fruit.
