Matassa Olla Rouge 2023
Tom Lubbe has risen to cult status in the low intervention wine community in recent years. A New Zealander by birth, he pioneered the natural movement in South Africa, followed by a move to the South-West of France with his wife to continue his journey. His relatively tiny 15 hectare production around the village of Calce is highly sought after, as it showcases up-front fruit with finesse and savoury texture. The Rouge is predominately Grenache Noir, with some white Grenache Blanc and Macabeu added to the blend for freshness and floral nuance. It’s light but not lacking intensity and punch.
