Languedoc-Roussillon
The Languedoc gives producers some of the most freedom of choice and the most land under vine to produce wine. Got a rib-eye on the grill out the back? - Perhaps a deep dark Carignan or a vibrant Grenache. Except for some small towns and defined regions, It's really up to the producer as to the blend.
There's some pockets of amazing producers, many of which reside over ancient vineyards, particularly as we approach the Côte Catalans to the west. If you like power and passion, or you’re taking a step away from familiar local styles, then this is a good place to start.
