Stylistically split between the north and south - North being the Shiraz powerhouse, while the South is the king of Grenache.
You can draw a line along the river running from Lyon all the way to Avignon, either side of that is a plethora of delicious wines. Marsanne and Roussanne deliver voluptuous whites from Crozes-Hermitage. Then head further South for a vibrant, peppery Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Look out for wines labelled Côtes-du-Rhône, to find real value and drinkability from this region.
